Life on the Farm
We made our own little booklet about life on the farm - it was fun to learn all about life on the farm before going on our school tour. We are very proud of our work!
Money, Money, Money!
We are learning about money this month in Junior Infants Room 10. Check us out with our millions below!
Garda Gavin
Garda Gavin came to visit us in our classroom on Monday, May 14th. He talked about his job and we learned that Garda Gavin doesn't just catch robbers - he helps people and tells children how to be safe. We learned that we must always wear our seatbelt in the car and that we must always stay on the footpath if we see blue lights or hear the siren of the Garda car.
Garda Gavin showed us his hat, superpower vest and handcuffs. He also showed us the Garda car and he turned on the siren and lights.

A Visit from 2nd Year Students from Coláiste Bríde
We were very lucky in Junior Infants Room 10 to experience a wonderful music lesson on Thursday, May 10th, with Ms. Wall, Ms. Deane and 2nd Year students from the secondary school across the road. The girls brought their ukuleles to our classroom and played two pop songs for us. Then they let us play their ukuleles and showed us how to play different chords. We all had a turn at playing the ukulele and found our hidden musical talents. Thanks so much to Ms. Wall, Ms. Deane and all of our new friends from 2nd Year for coming to share their music with us. We loved it!
See footage of us playing our own music and singing our Days of the Week song below;

Our May Altar
May has arrived and the days are getting longer and brighter. We are talking and learning about Mary, the Mother of God this month because May is the month of Mary.
We have decorated our sacred space to show how we care for Mary. We picked some fresh flowers from the school garden and made our own flowers too. We also decorated beautiful stained glass windows of Mary and added them to our Sacred Space.
We have also learned how to sing "When Creation was Begun" and pray the "Hail Mary" prayer.

Orienteering in P.E.
We are learning how to navigate our way around a special "Look Out Teddy" orienteering course. We have to find the words that we have been learning and colour them on our key cards. It is so much fun! We try to find all of the words as quick as we can so that we can win the challenge.
We have also been looking for farm animals on an orienteering course. It was so exciting to learn about these animals especially because we are going to Newgrange Farm on our school tour.
Here are our winners so far;
Paired Reading
The girls from 3rd Class have been reading with us every Friday. We love when they come to our classroom because we get to read lots of different stories in small groups.
We will read our own class reader "Splash" for our 3rd Class friends in June when we are better readers.
